A Guide to Buying Quality Canvas Prints

General July 19th, 2009

There are many methods to show off and present photos. Having your photo on canvas is an original way of displaying a favourite photo. Unlike traditional methods of displaying a photograph, canvas prints offer a bold, contemporary alternative. Due to the chunky gallery frames used, the finished canvas creates a real statement when hung on a wall. It stands out and is extremely eye catching.

Depending on the subject and quality of the supplied photo the canvas can be as big as you like. No space is too ;arge to fill. The printing process, however, remains the same no matter what dimensions are needed.

The chosen image is uploaded to the computer, colour corrected and resized in Photoshop prior to being sent to the printer. The image is printed onto 100% natural cotton canvas using water resistant inks. When dry, the canvas should be treated with a water soluble varnish to protect the canvas from abrasion and fading as well as enhancing the colours in the photograph.

Once dry, the canvas is stretched around a kiln dried, fir pine frame or stretcher and fixed securely in place with staples on the back of the frame. To achieve the necessary tension on the canvas, wedges are inserted into the inside of the frame. These can be adjusted over time to ensure the canvas remains taught.

There are many companies offering a canvas art service and they vary greatly in the quality and cost that they offer. All claim to be the best available and are quick to point out why you should choose them over the competition. Unfortunately, there is no way to know that their claims of being the best are true until you have bought a canvas print from them.

Some use substandard materials in an attempt to keep down costs. Over time their frames may warp and twist. The inks that they use may also be of an inferior quality and these in time will fade and become washed out. It stands to reason that those companies offering their services at really low prices, just maybe, do not use the best materials available. As with most things in life you get what you pay for.

Putting The Added Touch On Your Window Decor

General July 19th, 2009

When it comes to decorating probably one of the most exciting areas to do is the window dressing. A couple of reasons for this is one  because you’re pretty well putting the finishing touches on your room that you may of been spending some time on and secondly this is going to tie your room together.

You also have many choices ahead of you in different varieties of window decor. You want to make sure that if your room is placid in colour that you use your drapes to bring out the vibrant colours that they consist of and let them become the focal point of the room.

On the other hand, if you have a fair amount of colour in the room you may want to go with something neutral for the window covering. This can be from casual to elegant.

There are so many different ways that you can use drapes and curtains. One unique and very sleek look is when you layer curtain upon curtain. This gives the full look to the window and is one that is quite stunning in a room that is on the formal side. Then mixing other materials creates interesting results as well for example using heavy velvet over sheer satin gives a contrast that is pleasing to the eye.

Café curtains are great for the kitchen but they can also be used in other rooms as well as window decor. Then if you like, the open area look of course you are going to want to go with various styles of valances. Some individuals do not care for drapery at all and would prefer to go with blinds. The blinds that are on the market today have such a vast selection to them from all different colours to even including patterns.

Some individuals prefer to go with the new coverings that can be put on a window so that you can see out but no one can see in these have become a little bit more popular.

Window art is becoming quite an exciting venture as well patterns are now being painted on the corners or the length of one side of a window using glass paints and stencils. Whatever you decide it should be according to your personal taste how much privacy, you want and what style your room is.

Ideally, if you want to give you room a new look you can do your window decor by seasons going with the heavier materials for the winter and the lighter sheers and silks for the summer.

Get Paid For Surveys

General July 19th, 2009

You may well ask yourself, why or how can someone get paid for surveys .

Well, a lot of individuals nowadays are Shrugging off the corporate world and working from home. With the price of getting a child minder, the climbing gas prices, and the need for parents to relate with their children more often, staying at home to work has become more popular in the last ten years.

Quite a few people are taking part in internet surveys to earn some money at home. There are quite literally hundreds of online paid survey sites who want your judgement on a multitude of topics, and they will also pay you to fill out paid surveys.

Many marketing companies are using this method of research to give them a wider scope of coverage. Once you enlist yourself with a paid surveys site, you will get surveys sent to you in your email. It is up to you which surveys you pick out to take part in. You will be paid for each survey you fill out, following the price per survey the site offers.

A lot of of the time, these surveys will take you about five to fifteen minutes of your time to fill out, and normally offer a payment of $2 upwards for each. Focus groups pay quite a bit more per survey, an can even be up to $250 depending on the extent of the survey, and wether or not you have to go and sit in on a survey meeting with other people.

So Why Do Companies Pay For Your Opinion ?

Being a a consumer, your judgement is of value to companies before they bring out a new product or service to the market. Compensating to have a consumer fill out surveys is a much more cost effective way to execute research, as the company cannot afford to usher in a new product or service that nobody will purchase.

It is well worth it for a business to compensate a consumer to fill out a survey, take part in an online focus group, or pay to check out a new movie trailer and give their opinion. These ways they will get consumer opinions, good or bad, before they put any funding into production.
