How to Find a Cheap PS3

General July 14th, 2010

Have you looked in the sale papers for a PS3? It seems that the demand is high enough that most stores don’t run sales or when they do it’s not much of a discount. It can be annoying if you only have a set amount of money to work with and it’s not quite enough to make the purchase.

I feel your pain! I’ve tried to justify the purchase in so many ways. I figured I could sell all my old PS2 games and console and start building a PS3 fund. I’ve thought about going through my closet and digging out my old jeans to see what they might fetch on eBay. I’ve even gone through my garage looking for tools that I don’t use to sell them online. We even had a yard sale so I could try to earn enough money to buy the PS3. Not including my time I made about $50. As an aside, garage sales are not the way to go! You’ll make much more money selling your stuff on eBay.

You see, I’ve felt the same way before. The PS3 has so much to offer in compared to other gaming consoles. A primary selling point for me is that it is Blu-Ray. Not only are all the games HD but now my movies are too. Try selling that angle to the wife! Once we went to HD with DirecTV, including the DVR, my wife was convinced and we hardly watch anything that is not in HD. At the end of the day it turned out to be easy to persuade her to get the PS3 on every front except the price.

I’ve been digging around for a while and I’ve discovered that to get the best price on the best game system that plays Blu-Ray you can’t get a better value than with a PS3. Even when it’s not on sale! You’ll spend $200-250 bucks on a basic Blu-Ray player anyway. While XBox does offer HD it is not the preferred format. The challenge remains in getting the PS3 at a discount.

I searched on eBay and some other traditional auction sites and found that there really aren’t any PS3 Sale Prices out there. They make you spend much more than you would for just the console by throwing in all these games and accessories. It just doesn’t add up when I’m trying to save money, not spend more.

I had to get creative with my thinking and break away from the herd. I started investigating unique bid auction sites. For my money there is simply no comparison to www.auctions4acause.com. They have more everyday items available for auction, including the PS3, than any of the other sites. Most other sites focus on really high-dollar items like cars, boats, houses and land. That’s all well and good but I just want a PS3!

Once I found that site I knew I had what I was looking for. They had the item I wanted and it was possible for me to get it very cheap. I quickly setup an account on the site. I rung up 3 bids and knew I had the lowest and unique bid. I was only slightly discouraged when I didn’t win the first time. I waited a week before another one came available to bid on. I bid 3 or 4 more times, said my prayers and waited. Bingo! I won this time. 1 week later I was unboxing my new PS3. At the end I had dropped less than $60.64. Not bad, huh?

It can take a few minutes of reading to truly grasp the concept of the lowest unique bid auction style. Once you get a handle on the concept you may not want to stop. Since that time that I won the PS3 I’ve bid on and won 3 other items including an iPod Nano (they have the best iPod Prices) and $400 gas card. In total I’ve spent about $350 there and won over $1,200 worth of stuff.

If you’re looking for the best prices don’t bother with the Best Buys or Walmarts. Go register at Auctions4aCause and get a great deal.

Going for a walk can actually get you fit

General July 14th, 2010

People on TV and in the papers are always saying how unfit we are and how we need to get out and get some exercise, yet the reality is that if you are really unfit then you can’t just jump straight into working out like they are pushing you to do. For a start you are not going to get far if you try something like jogging which is quite demanding, and another thing you have to watch out for is the impact on your joints. If you are carrying around some extra weight because you haven’t been doing much physical activity, then when you are jogging it puts a tremendous strain on your knee joints.

That is why walking in my mind is the best form of exercise. You won’t put any extra strain on your joints (because you are taking smaller, softer steps than while jogging), anyone of any fitness level can do it (we all walk around during the day) and yet if you want to make it more demanding you can. For most people then when they start off just a mile or two will be enough to get them breathing hard, but as you keep doing it and get fitter then you can increase the distance you walk, decrease the time it takes you to walk a distance and/or add in some hills as well to really ramp things up. You can buy a strapless heart rate monitor watch if you are going to stick to this for a while, that allows you to make sure you are working hard each time you go for a walk.

If you can stick to your walking routine every day for a month then you will be amazed at how much fitter you are, and how much more walking you can do. Once you start seeing those results it will motivate you to keep working hard.
