Backpacking is one of my favorite things to do and last summer I decided to make the big jump to Europe. After planning my trip with Orbitz, I headed off to enjoy some of the great music and soak up the culture in Europe.

Budapest, Hungary
The Sziget Festival in August was a blast! We stayed on the island of Obudai just off the River Danube in Hungary. The island was its own city of tents for the Festival. The stages were plentiful and the bands were awesome. Iron Maiden was the first to play and they were followed by five more musical days with bands such as Kaiser Chiefs, The Killers and Three Inches of Blood. All in all, a great show for metal fans! Kildare, Ireland
If you are going to be in the vicinity of Ireland, the Oxegen Festival held there is not something you won’t want to miss. Famous name headliners for all rock and roll fans will be playing and there is camping on or near the site. I personally haven’t been to this festival, but my friend highly recommends it. There were lots of friendly people and great music.

On the Mediterranean
Camping on the beach awaits you when you attend the Benicassim Festival held in Spain each summer. It is a 4 day event that packs in music lovers with some really great music and a fantastic atmosphere. The energy is like nothing you have experienced. It is a must see event if you are a music fan.
