Staying Healthy With Golf

Most every pro athlete and even some that play golf for relaxation have exercise worked as part of their training. The idea of the exercise is to assist the body to perform exactly as they need it to when it’s time to perform in competition. A golf swing is just as demanding as a baseball swing or a long drive, yet many starting golfers don’t work out or train for their golf swing timing.
The lack of golf skill in amateurs is not a new situation. The golf game (golf handicap) has, by a number of people, always been thought of as a leisure game. This tends to imply that little skill or ability is necessary. This idea has led to many an amateur with lousy timing or annoying injuries that were easily prevented.
Before each shot stand behind the tee and think about where you would like it to go. Pick a spot in the fairway where you will aim your shot. Focus on and even try to imagine the shot as you stand behind the ball. As you begin your swing clear your mind, swing easy and believe in the shot. If your shot fails out the way you wanted take a small amount of time in analyzing the shot. Try not to get aggravated it’s only going to disturb your next shot or your whole round of golf.
A long par three can be a challenge if it has a lot of water hazards. If your nervous about water or bunkers then choose to play it safe. For the sake of argument, the hole is about 210 yards with a water hazard. You might tee off with a club that will get you out there about 170 yards and then you are stuck with a 30 yard chip or tip shot and a two putt to par. That may be much better than sending one in the water off of the tee or in the bunker. Most rookie golfers I know have a rough time with bunker shots. Try to avoid those if you can. Even though I could drive the green myself I might land in water if the hazards are too challenging.
In conclusion, considering the round of golf, or your next shot might actually help you lower your score. A little forethought will help you be honest with yourself and help you not make those shots that you are not capable of. Playing within your strengths| is not coping out, but it is accepting your own capabilities, and it might actually help you reduce your golf scores.
